Las Vegas Restaurant & Pizzeria is much more than a family run business: Las Vegas is not only the story of a family, but also a story that tells about gold medals, a great master, a fortune teller, an American city: it is a story that revolves around a main ingredient: the passion for pizza.
Today Alberto, together with his wife Alessandra, runs the restaurant, a precious legacy built his father Ervino, his mother Rita and his brother Riccardo.
In 1983 Ervino had a small cleaning company, but a great interest blossomed in him and turned out to be the greatest love of his life : pizza.
In the same year, despite his family and work commitments, Ervino starts following courses by Maestro Gabriele Marchesin, the founder of the first pizza school in Italy in the 1980s.
In the following years Maestro Marchesin, together with Maestro Menegozzi Di Meldola, has been defined as one of the greatest innovators in the history of pizza, both in Italy and worldwide.
Ervino, bewitched by these masters’ genius and passion, began an intense and committed learning path. He spent years of practice and research with the aim of obtaining an excellent yet digestible and healthy pizza dough.
In 1992 he took part to the world pizza championships in Las Vegas, where he and his team brought six gold medals home.
On their way back, a fortune teller read coffee grounds to Rita, Ervino’s wife, and announced that an unmissable opportunity was awaiting in Italy: this opportunity would quickly turn into an excellent deal.
After two days since their return, Ervino and his wife received a call saying that an interesting pizzeria was on sale.
Ervino, with the help of his father-in-law, grandpa Arthur, to whom he still is very grateful, bought this pizzeria and called it “Las Vegas Pizzeria, world champion restaurant”, to honor the city that brought and would bring him such good luck.
Nowadays Las Vegas Ristorante & Pizzeria has been renovated and is a modern and welcoming place: nevertheless, inside you can find many pictures evoking its family history and portraying famous Italian people that came here for lunch or dinner.
For example, Ervino still recalls the evening when Udinese, a popular Italian soccer team, celebrated here its first match in Serie A, or the first Uefa Europa League.
Many Italian artists, both from TV and from sports, came at Restaurant & Pizzeria Las Vegas: for example Moreno Morello, from the famous program “Striscia la Notizia”, is one of the people that Ervino admires the most for his moral values; Pooh, one of the most popular Italian bands, left him with an exciting memory, whereas Renzo Arbore, one of the masters of Italian music, personally called him to thank him after having dinner at Las Vegas with its Italian Orchestra.
Ervino even took part to a meeting with Pope John Paul II, to whom he gave, together with other pizza makers, a Last Supper reproduction made with pizza dough under a glass bell; and was a guest at Maurizio Costanzo Show, a famous Italian TV show. All of these experiences are for him the best reward for many years of work, study and sacrifice.
